Barcelona. Antoni Ros-Marbà was born in Barcelona. He studied orchestra conducting with Eduardo Toldrá at the Superior Conservatory of Music in this city, and he extended his studies with Sergiu Celibidache at the Chiggiana Academy in Sienna and with Jean Martinon in Düsseldorf. In 1978, guest by Herbert von Karajan, he made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and he made tours with other important orchestras around several countries. In 1996 he passed the competitive exam for the position of Titular Conductor of the RTVE Orchestra. Also, he has been conductor of the Ciutat de Barcelona Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Spain and the Holland Chamber Orchestra. His conducting of 'Salomé' deserves special mention, just as his 'Carmen' by Bizet or the first world-wide recording of 'La Dueña' by Roberto Gerhard. He has been awarded the Record International Prize Arthur Honegger because of his recording of 'The Seven last Words' by Haydn. His recordings of the songs by Federico Mompou also stand out. He has been guest professor to conduct the Chamber Orchestra of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía.
