London. Born in London, Gordon Hunt studied oboe with Teresa MacDonagh. He has developed a distinguished career as oboist and orchestra conductor. At present, he is first oboe of the London Philharmonia and the London Chamber Orchestra. He has played with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as a guest artist. Hunt has been soloist in several concerts all around the world under Ashkenazy, A. Davis, Giulini, Kondrashin, Muti, S. Rattle, Sinopoli and others. He has recorded the Arnold, Vivaldi, Bach and Druschetzky concerti, the R. Strauss concerto with the Berlin Radio Symphonic and Ashkenazy (Decca) and the Sinfonia concertante by Haydn with Zukerman and the English Chamber Orchestra (BMG). From 1991 to 1997, he was the conductor of the Swedish Chamber Winds and he still works with winds groups in several countries. Hunt has conducted the South African National Symphonic, the Johannesburgo Philharmonic, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and the Norrköpping, Aalborg and Christchurch Symphonics. In 2001, he is named artistic director of the Danish Chamber Players and in 2003, he takes part in the Budapest Spring Festival as a performer and conductor. He is honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music and the jury of the Tokio International Competition.
