Cheltenham (United Kingdom), 1943. Sarah Walker is a recognized artist with prestige in all the international operistic circles and her performances are very appreciated in the main stages of the world. She began her violin studies in the Royal College of Music of London and she continued her training with the hungarian teacher Madame Vera Rozsa. Walker has consolidated under her teaching an extraordinarily wide repertoire: from Bach and the Baroque music, to contemporary composers such as Berio, Boulez, Cage, or young composers to whom she has asked for new works. Since her debut as Ottavia in Poppea by Monteverdi in the legendary Kent Opera, Sarah Walker has performed in the most of the opera halls all around de world, including the Royal Opera House where she performed as Charlotte in Werther by Massenet, with Alfredo Kraus; the Metropolitan Opera, the Wiener Staatsoper or La Scala in Milan. Sarah Walker has more than sixty roles in her repertoire, such as Doña Elvira, Klytämnestra, Katisha, Mistress Quickly, many heroines of Händel and Monteverdi and the main character of Gloriana by Britten. Recently, she has incorporated to her repertoire the role of the Witch in the 'Hansel and Gretel' by Humperdinck, and the fortune-teller of 'Arabella' by Strauss. Sarah Walker is often guest by the most prestigious stages of the world and she has performed with great conductors (Solti, Kleiber, Norrington, Rattle, Haitink... ). She has taken part in so important events as the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven under the conducting of Bernstein, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the commemorations of the sixty Anniversary of Pavarotti in the Metropolitan and the Last Night of the Proms, where she did excellently an unforgettable Britannia. She has in her favour numerous recordings with a very wide repertoire. In 1991, she was distinguished with the title of 'Commander of the British Empire'.
