Salvador Martinez Tos

Salvador Martínez Tos studied at the Conservatory of Valencia, with Mª Dolores Tomás, where he graduated with Honours. During his training he also took attended different master classes receiving advice from professors such as A. Marion, R. Guiot and B. Kuijken.

He furthered his flute studies at the "Rotterdam Conservatorium" in the Netherlands with Jacques Zoon, where he obtained the "UM Diploma" (soloist diploma) with Honours.
Since 1988, he has been a member of the Philharmonic of Gran Canaria, Balearic Islands’ Symphony Orchestra, City of Granada Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia, and Orchestra of Valencia, performing under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Zubin Metha, Valery Gergiev, Kurt Sanderling, Gunter Herbig, Pinchas Steinberg, Eliahu Inbal, Vladimir Fedosseyev, Michel Plason, and C. Hogwood, among others.

In his career as soloist, he has performed the Brandenburg concertos, W. A. Mozart, J. Ibert and L. Bernstein with the orchestras Camerata Sa Nostra, Pamplona’s Pablo Sarasate Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia, Collegium Instrumentale, and Orchestra of Valencia.

As a professor, he has lectured at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) as well as the University Expert in Musical Analysis and Performance", a degree of the University of Oviedo, organised in collaboration with the "Julián Orbón" Conservatory in Avilés, and guest professor in the young orchestras of the Region of Valencia (JOCV), Catalonia (JONC), Murcia and the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE). He has also been part of the faculty in charge of the preparation of a concert tour of the Colombian Youth Philharmonic together with the maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Since then, he has maintained a close relationship with this project of the Bolivar-Davivienda Foundation, with which he collaborates every year as a jury member in the auditions for the new young flautists who will form part of this orchestra in future editions.

He is currently Flute Soloist of the Orchestra of Valencia and Assistant Professor of the Flute Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
