Durmanovic, Damir

He was born in 1999 in Tuzla Bosnia and Herzegovina. His first encounter with piano playing occurred at the age of eight when he enrolled in the Primary School of Music in his home town. Not long after he began to perform in the school's public concerts receiving high acclaim from the fellow teachers in the school. In 2010 Damir appeared in a number of competitions which led him to take two third prizes, one in The National Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The following years showed an even greater musical maturity leading Damir to win a second prize in International Piano Competition Idrija in Slovenia, seven first prizes in highly acclaimed international piano competitions on the Balkan. In 2013 Damir was accepted to the Yehudi Menuhin School where he is currently studying with Marcel Baudet, the artistic director of the Concertgebouw as well as a highly acclaimed piano teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. During the past two years at the Yehudi Menuhin School Damir has performed extensively in The Menuhin Hall as well as venues such as Champs Hill and the Wigmore Hall. He is also the winner of the 2015 Junior Intercollegiate Piano Competition held every year at the Austrian Cultural Forum in South Kensington. As a result he will be involved in a recital held at the Wigmore Hall during the 2015/2016 Season.
