Prize winner of the Prague Spring, Rostropovich and Casals competitions, Sébastien Van Kuijk has given concerts throughout Europe as well as various countries around the world. The many prestigious venues in which he has performed include Rudolfinum in Prague, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Teatro Real de Madrid, Casals Hall and Bunka-Kaykan Hall in Tokyo and Concertgebow Hall in Amsterdam. Mr van Kuijk has collaborated with composers such as Henri Dutilleux, György Kurtág, Thierry Escaich and Nicolas Bacri, who dedicated to him a Sinfonia Concertante for cello and orchestra. He performs regularly in chamber music with musicians such as Gary Hoffman, the Ebène Quartet, Augustin Dumay, Dana Ciocarlie, Cédric Tiberghien, Alexandre Tharaud, Bertrand Chamayou, Renaud Capuçon, Svetlin Roussev and Paul Meyer. As a soloist, Mr van Kuijk has performed with orchestras including the Orchestre des Concerts Lamoureux, Orchestre Symphonique de la Garde Républicaine, the Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonie Orchestra, the Janacek Philharmonie Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has recorded with pianist Dana Ciocarlie the complete Mendelssohn works for cello and piano with the INTRADA label (October 2009). Mr van Kuijk plays an early 19th century cello attributed to François Fendt on loan from the French Instrumental Fund.

Formed in 2011, the Van Kuijk Quartet studies at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris under the tutelage of the Ysaÿe quartet. In 2012, they took part in the ProQuartet Academy in Paris under the guidance Günter Pichler. Other significant teachers and mentors are Reiko Kitahama and Luigi Vecchioni. The quartet recently received the Académie des Beaux-Arts scholarship and the ProQuartet-CEMC special prize at the FNAPEC competition. The quartet has appeared on several radio and television shows in France and has played in many festivals with artists such as Dana Ciocarlie, pianist and singer Angelika Kirchschlager. The Van Kuijk Quartet is an official selection of the 7th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition (September 24-29, 2013).

Favre, Sylvain

Sylvain Favre studied the piano and violin at the Regional Conservatory of Annecy, France. Later on, he carried on his musical training in Paris with Jean Lenert and obtained First Prize with honors. He then became a student of the National Conservatory of Paris (CNSM), took lessons with Amy Flammer and graduated in 2010. Parallel to his main violin activity he performs as a guest musician with many other chamber music ensembles such as the Debruhm Quartet and Monsolo Ensemble and takes artistic advises from famous teachers, among which members from the Prazak, Debussy, Ysaÿe quartets, but Walter Levine, Hatto Beyerlé a.o. as well. In June 2011 he joined the van Kuijk quartet.
