Created in 2000 in Basel, reveived clasees from Lenin and the Alban Berg Quartet. From 2009-2010 academic year, the Quartet takes classes of Professor Günter Pichler, Head of Strings Department at the International Institute of Chamber Music of Madrid. The group is formed by the violinist Gustav Frielinghaus (Germany, 1978), violinist Lena Wirth (Germany, 1983), the violist Lena Eckels (Germany, 1982) and cellist Yves Sandoz (Switzerland, 1980). They have participated in master classes of the Artemis Quartet and have played with Barbara Westphal, Albrecht Breuninger, François Benda, Dimitri Ashkenazy and the actor Christoph Bantzer. The quartet has won several prizes in international competitions, including the First Prize in the Charles Hennen International Competition in the Netherlands, in 2005, and Paolo Borciani Award 2008 in Reggio Emilia (Italy), where was also a finalist in june 2011. Also, in 2010 received the Partnership Award of North Rhine Westphalia in Germanya and, in 2011, won the First Prize and the Grand Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. They have also played at the Bern Biennale and the International Beethoven Festival in Bonn. In 2005 they appeared in the Liederhalle of Stuttgart and the Lucerne Festival. In 2006 participated in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Quartetto di Milano Società Concert Series. The Quartet with Walter Levin presented "Five Pieces for String Quartet, Op No. 5" by Webern on German radio SWR. Also he is regularly invited to participate in music festivals throughout Europe and often works in radio stations such as Radio France and the German broadcaster SWR, among others. During the 2009-2010 season, they participated in the Auditorio Nacional of Madrid in BT/La Generación Ascendente Concert Series, as well as in the Auditorium Sony of Madrid in the Prelude and Da Camera Concerts Series, where often performs.

Gustav Frielinghaus was born 1978 in Hamburg and began to play the violin at 5 years old with Meike Thiessen. Later he was formed by Uwe Hoffmann and in 1992 to Prof. Winfried Rüssmann. During his school years he also played piano and oboe. After graduating from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, he studied for two years in Hamburg and was launched in 1999 to Prof. Igor Ozim to Berne. There he graduated in 2003 as the teaching and concert diploma. After further studies with Prof. Rainer Kussmaul, Gustav closed with a two-year studies with Prof. Thomas Brandis in Lübeck in 2007 his education. For additional help, he attended master classes with Norbert Brainin, Tibor Varga, Roman Nodel, Ingolf Turban, Nora Chastain, Anje wide Haas and Hans-Heinz Schneeberger. As a concert master Gustav Frielinghaus participated in various opera productions of the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, at the Opera House Biel, with the Sinfonieorchester Berne, etc. As a soloist he performed with the violin concertos by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Bruch. Through the love of chamber music Gustav Frielinghaus is now exclusively dedicated to Amaryllis Quartet which he founded in 2000 and he coach the annual Christmas concerts "Frielinghaus and friends" with various chamber music ensembles.

Eckels, Lena

Lena Eckels was born in 1982 in Detmold. She received her first violin lessons at the age of 8 years and two years later moved to the viola. She was formed by Charlotte Hauser in Detmold. In the years 1998, 1999 and 2000 she won both, the solo "Young Musicians" and in chamber music scoring three 1st prize at the national competition with her string trio and her piano quintet. In 2004 she received the Award of the Society for the Promotion of the Westphalian cultural work (GWK). In 2005 she won the 1st Prize in the solo viola in the international Brahms Competition in Portschach, Austria. Lena Eckels attended several master classes at abroad, including with Nobuko Imai (Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 2005), Kim Kashkashian, Yuri Bashmet and Lars Anders Tomter (Verbier Festival Academy 2007). She performed chamber music with Joseph Silverstein and Midori (Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival) since January 2006 and is a permanent member of the Amaryllis Quartet. From 2001-2009 she studied in the class of Prof. Barbara Westphal at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck. Lena Eckels currently completed a Master's degree in Lars-Anders Tomter at the Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo. She plays a viola of the 17th century by Guo Maria del Busetto (Cremona).

Sandoz, Yves

The Swiss cellist Yves Sandoz, born 1980 in Solothurn. Started in 2000 to study with Prof. Reinhard Latzko in Basel. He attended master classes with Monique Bartels, Christophe Coin, Wen-Sinn Yang, Martin Zeller, among others. He was section leader of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra, performing as a soloist with various orchestras in Switzerland and was winner of the Swiss Chamber Music Competition. He also received the 2004 Work Year Award of the canton of Solothurn. From 2005 to 2010 Yves Sandoz studied with Prof. Gustav Rivinius in Saarbrücken.

Wirth, Lena

Lena Wirth, born 1983 in Schwetzingen. In 2002 began her studies with Prof. Jörg Hofmann in Freiburg and in 2004 joined Prof. Albrecht Breuninger to Karlsruhe. She won "Young Musicians" and took as concertmaster in various youth orchestras travel to Australia and Canada. She also played in 2005 in the Lucerne Festival Academy under Pierre Boulez. Lena Wirth performing as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Palatine and attended various master classes.
