He was born in Odessa (Ukraine) in 1986. In 1994 he joined at the boarding school specializing in music education Pyotr Solomonovich Stoliarsky in Odessa. In 2005 he went to the Music Public Academy Antonina Vasilievna Nezhdanova. Since the 2009-2010 academic year is a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in the Chair of Violin with the Head Professor Marco Rizzi. In June 2010 he received from Her Majesty the Queen the Mention as Outstanding Student of his chair. Enjoys a Tuition and Residence Scholarship of the Albéniz Foundation. He has attended master classes with Eduard Grach, Igor Ozim, Zakhar Bron, Rosa Fain, Kim Nam Yun, Raidner Kussmaul and Ferenc Rados. In 1997 he won the International Competition Eugen Coca in Chisinau. In 2001 he won the International Competition Art XXI Century in Kiev. From 1999 to 2004 was awared at the Annual International Children's Festival in his hometown. He played with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the National Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television (Kiev) and National Symphony Orchestra of Odessa. As a student of the School, is part of Sony Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Peter Eötvös and the Camerata E.ON of Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, with which he acted in December 2010 under the direction of Hansjörg Schellenberger. He’s a member of the Handel of Puertos del Estado Piano Group and the Scarlatti of Casa de La Moneda String Quartet, under the direction of the professors Márta Gulyás and Heime Müller, respectively.

Australian pianist Duncan Gifford's greatest international success took place in 1993 at the prestigious José Iturbe International Competition held in Valencia (Spain) where he won the First Grand Prize, and in 2002 he was distinguished with the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens. He also was Third Prizewinner at the Sydney's Competition of Music. After studying in Australia, Duncan Gifford entered Moscow's State Conservatory where he studied with Professor Lev Vlassenko where he obtained a Master in Piano Interpretation. Since 1997 he resides in Madrid where he followed improvement courses under the tutorship of Joaquín Soriano. Duncan Gifford is at present Accompanying Pianist Professor at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in the "Fundación Teléfonica" Department of Violin where José Luis García Asesio is Head of the Department. As Professor of the School he has appeared in many concert halls: i.e.: Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Lázaro Galdiano, Marcelino Botín and Caja Madrid Foundations, as well as at the Academy for the Fine Arts and at the Marqués de Salamanca Palace in Madrid. He has also given recitals in many European countries, the old U.S.S.R. and Asia. In 1999 he made his debut in the United States where he played at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and at the "Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts" in Los Angeles. Since his arrival in Spain he has carried out an intensive concerts career and has appeared in the most prestigious venues such as the Palacio de la Música in Valencia and at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid. Duncan Gifford has also been soloist with the Valencia and Málaga Orchestras, the Sydney and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, the Australia Chamber Orchestra, Rome's Mozart Camerata, Irish National, Montreal Metropolitan, Radio Romania National Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra. As piano professor Gifford has given master classes in the United States, Australia, Russia, Greece and Taiwan. He has recorded several CD's with works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
