Lopes, Pedro

Born in Aveiro, Pedro Lopes completed the Professional Course in Strings and Keys (Piano), under Fausto Neves, at Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, in 2010. He is currently studying at the School of Music and Performing Arts of Oporto, with Pedro Burmester. He won several national competitions, including the Helena Sá e Costa Prize, in aspecial edition on the artist's 100th birthday. In 2013, he was awarded with the Prize for Best Piano Accompanying in the 7th Edition of the Portuguese Rotary Fundation Singing Competition. He has attended piano master classes Zoltán Kocsis, Álvaro Teixeira Lopes, Luísa Tender, Pedro Burmester, Sofia Lourenço, Madalena Soveral, Paulo Oliveira, Fiammetta Facchini, Joop Celis and Vlad Dimulescu. He has worked on chamber music groups, being taught by Jorge Alves, Tatjana Masurenko, Sven Arne Tepl, António Saiote, Ludovico Tramma and Fiammetta Facchini. Besides the piano playing, he also studied singing with Dora Rodrigues. He is a member of Cappella Musical Cupertino de Miranda and Coro Casa da Música, having already worked under the direction of conductors such as Paul Hillier, James Wood, Laurence Cummings, Gregory Rose, Baldur Brönniman, Olari Elts, Kaspars Putnins, Christoph König and Peter Rundel. Pedro teaches piano at Escola de Música Santa Cecília and has an acompannying activity at Aveiro's University.

RAFAEL João Vieira SOUSA was born in Coimbra, Portugal in 1994. He began his musical studies at the age of 10 in the Music and Dance Conservatory of Coimbra under Professor Francesco Samassimo. At the age of 15 he went to Professional School of Music in Espinho under Professor Aldo Salvetti. He performed many times with the Classical Orchestra of Espinho and in May, 2011 he performed as the soloist. He had the opportunity to work with several oboists such as Alessandro Piqué, Francesco Samassimo, Omar Zoboli, Luca Vignali, Alberto Negroni, Diethelm Jonas, Nick Deutsch, Nélson Alves, Samuel Bastos, Pedro Ribeiro, Muller Brincken, Christian Wetzel and Thomas Indermuhle. As an oboist played in many orchestras like: Wind Orchestra and Classical Orchestra of Music and Dance Conservatory of Coimbra, Classical Orchestra of Espinho, North Orchestra, Orchestra, Orchestre du Centre Philharmonique, Gulbenkian Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra of Casa da Música and he had the opportunity of working with several conductors. Since 2012, he is studying in Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE) under Professor Ricardo Lopes and he is one of the founders of the Clas5ic Wind Quintet.

Joao André Oliveira Paiva was born on 17th May 1993 and began his musical studies at the age of 6 with his father and brother. Later he attended the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho where he had Luís Carvalho as teacher. He concluded the High-School under the supervision of the latter with the highest marks. He participated in Masterclasses with António Saiote, Nuno Silva, Cândida Oliveira, Bruno Graça, Iva Barbosa, João Moreira, José Eduardo Gomes, Ricardo Alves, Carlos Alves, Henrique Pérez Piquer, Vincent Alberola, João Pedro Santos, Juan Ferrer, Asterio Leiva, Valdemar Gonçalves, Victor Pereira, Florent Héau, Henri Bok, Antonio Fraioli, among others. He played as a soloist with the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho the piece "Première Rhapsodie" by Debussy, conducted by Pedro Neves. He won the 1st prize (ex-aequo) of the "IV Concurso paços premium 2010", the 3rd prize (ex-aequo) in the "IV concurso nacional Terras de La-Sallete" and the 2nd prize in the "I concurso internacional Terras de La-Sallete". He participated in the edition 70 in the Prague Spring Festival Competition. He is a member of the Orquestra de Clarinetes 'Príncipe das Astúrias' and cooperates with the BSP (Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa). He studies at the moment at ESMAE with the teacher António Saiote.

Francisco Lopes Soutinho Ventura Martins was born in Coimbra, Portugal, in 1995. He began his studying bassoon at the age of 11 in the Music and Dance Conservatory of Coimbra under Professor José Pedro Figueiredo. Since then, he has had the opportunity to work with several bassoonists such as Pedro Silva (ESMAE, Porto), Hugues Kesteman (ESMAE, Porto), Donna Agrell (Schola Cantorum Basiliensis), Benny Aghassi (Amsterdam Conservatory), Pierre Olivier Martens (Lübeck Musikhochschule), Giorgio Mandolesi (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) and Marco Postinghel (Mozarteum Salzburg) and the conductors António Saiote, Ernst Schelle, Robert Houlihan, Jean Sébastien Béreau, Jacomo Bairos, Eduardo Garcia Barrios, Peter Rundell and Rodolfo Saglimbeni. In 2010 he was attributed the 3rd prize in the III Concurso Nacional de Instrumentos de Sopro "Terras de La Salette" in the Juvenile category and in 2014 won the 2nd prize in the same contest in the Junior category. He has also some experience in orchestra: besides the activity developed in the Conservatory and ESMAE's orchestras, participated in the VII and VIII Orchestral Art International Courses organised by the University of Aveiro and Orquestra das Beiras; from 2010 to 2013 integrated the Portugues Music Conservatories Youth Orchestra; participated in the Under-21 Orchestra Guimarães European Capital of Culture (2012); in September 2013 was selected to participate in the Ibero-American Youth Orchestra in Panama City; in July 2014 participated in the Remix Ensemble Summer Academy. As a soloist performed with the String Orchestra of Coimbra's Conservatory and with Orquestra Clássica do Centro in June 2013. Since 2013, he is studying in Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (Porto) under Professor Pedro Silva.

Canas, Daniel

Daniel began his musical studies at the Music School of Mamarrosa Philharmonic Band, he continued later in the Bairrada School of Arts, where he finished the 5th grade of the Conservatory with the teachers Ricardo Matosinhos and Nuno Lima. Later, he joined the Espinho Professional Music School in the class of the teachers J. Bernardo Silva, Dário Ribeiro and Nuno Costa. In 2010, he won the 1st place in the Iberian contest "Terras de La Salette" in the juvenile category. He participated in several masterclasses with Hermann Baumann, Ab Koster, Nury Guarnaschelli, Ricardo Matosinhos, Hélder Vales, Sören Hermansson, Abel Pereira, Jonathan Luxton, David Johnson, Jeffrey Nelsen, Arkady Shilkloper among others. He participated in various stages of classical orchestra and woodwinds, with conductors Yan Van der Roost, Alberto Roque, Alex Schillings, Lorenzo Della Fonte, José Rafael Pascoal Vilaplana, Rui Pinheiro, Pedro Neves, Sergio Alapont, Martin Lutz, Arthur Pine Maria, Antonio Saiote and Christoph König. In chamber music, he is a founding member of the Oporto Horn Quartet, winner of the first edition of the "Trompas Lusas". He collaborated with the Espinho Classical Orchestra, Center Classical Orchestra, Wind Orchestra of Jobra, Bairrada Symphonic Orchestra, ESMAE Symphonic Orchestra and the Ensemble of the Portuguese Symphonic Band. He actively cooperates with the Beiras Philharmonic Orchestra and the Portuguese Symphonic Band. In terms of natural horn, he is a founding member of the baroque orchestra Musicum Portucalense, under the direction of Professor Hugues Kesteman. More recently he attended the official reopening of the Rivoli Theatre playing with the National Ballet Company, which was directed by Maestro Massimo Mazeo. He is currently studying at ESMAE (Superior School of Music and Arts-Porto), with the teachers Bohdan Sebestik, Hugo Carneiro, Ricardo Matosinhos, Hélder Vales, Nuno Vaz and Abel Pereira.
